Amenity Beds

What is an Amenity Bed?
Amenity beds are available to NHS patients who wish to pay for the privacy of a single en-suite room during their stay at the hospital. Treatment remains with the NHS within Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust.

Is an Amenity the same as being a private patient?
No, as no fee is paid to the specialist, your treatment remains with the NHS within the hospital and you will not have access to faster treatment.

Can you book an Amenity Bed?
Yes, but amenity beds are subject to availability. You will need confirmation from your consultant that they are happy for you to be located at the Parkside Suite.

What conditions are there with an Amenity Bed?
You are not guaranteed an amenity bed throughout your stay. If the bed is needed for a private admission you will be transferred back to a NHS ward, charges will be refunded if necessary and no additional charges will be made.

Are there any reasons why I may not be able to transfer to an Amenity Bed?
Yes, the main reasons are listed, however, it is worth contacting the Parkside Suite directly to check eligibility. Rooms can only be booked if available.

If your consultant does not agree to the transfer.
If you are considered a vulnerable patient or you require specialist nursing, such as: coronary care, intensive care, high dependency care or strokes, you will not be able to transfer to the Parkside Suite.

Amenity pathway
Patients must contact the Parkside Suite booking office at least 24 hours before admission (Mon–Fri, 8am–6pm). Outside these hours, please contact the Nurse in Charge on the ward. Rooms are subject to availability, and patients must confirm 24 hours prior. Full payment is required at booking.

For patients already admitted and wish to transfer to Parkside as an amenity patient, please contact the Parkside Suite Nurse in Charge on the ward to check availability and admission criteria.

It is worth noting at this point that amenity beds are subject to availability and it is the patient’s responsibility to contact The Parkside Suite 24 hours prior to admission to check that the room is still available. Full payment will be required at this time.

The fee includes:
A single en-suite room, with complimentary towels
Complimentary tea and coffee for you and your guest
Daily newspaper
Television
Complimentary parking for you and your guests

When will I need to pay?
Full payment will be required on or prior to admission. You may be discharged earlier than expected, if this is the case you be refunded the difference in full. Should your stay be extended payment will be required in full.

How can I pay?
We accept credit cards, cash and bank transfers. We do not accept American Express. For a quote or availability please contact the office below.

Payment is for room only. All other care and facilities remain within the NHS and does not constitute private medical treatment/care.
