Dr Alex Cumberworth

Dr Alex Cumberworth is a consultant anaesthetist at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust, having been appointed to the role in May 2022. He completed his medical training at Brighton and Sussex Medical School, graduating with Distinction in 2013, and has a BSc in Physiology from University College London. He then specialised in anaesthesia after two years as a foundation doctor, completing two years of anaesthetic training in south London and a final five years of training in the Oxford region. He was awarded the Nuffield Medal and Distinction for his performance in the FRCA examination.

Dr Cumberworth is a highly skilled anaesthetist with expertise in regional anaesthesia and difficult airway management. He provides anaesthetic services for both adults and children undergoing a variety of orthopaedic, plastic, and general surgeries. He has extensive training in the use of total intravenous anaesthesia, which reduces the risk of postoperative nausea and vomiting and leads to faster recovery from anaesthesia. With his knowledge and experience, he can provide patients with a choice between general and regional anaesthesia, and he is skilled in using ultrasound for intravenous cannulation, which helps patients who have experienced difficulty with this in the past. Dr Cumberworth currently practises at Wexham Park Hospital, Spire Thames Valley Hospital, Parkside Suite Wexham, and Parkside Suite Heatherwood.
